Rosa by Elaine Cunningham

For my Abeka Reading Program, I'm reading a book called Rosa. It's about a Mexican girl who goes from place to place while her father looks for new jobs. She hates going to different schools everywhere she goes, and almost everyone makes fun of her because she is Mexican. When she gets to Washington she doesn't want to go to school. But when her younger siblings (Graciela & Juna) find a small playground she meets a new friend named Betty, who invites her to come to a Christian school with her. She makes new friends and sings a song in Spanish for a program on stage. She sings "I have decided to follow Jesus". In Spanish, that is "He decidido seguir a Christo."and "no turning back, no turning back" is "No vuevlo astras, no vuevlo astras" in Spanish. It was a great book.

Hi Virginia, This sounds like a good book. I look forward to reading more about it as you finish it. I was fortunate that my family stayed in the same town (Alpharetta) all through my school years. I met Amy when I was in first grade and we went all the way through grammar school, high school and jr. college together! Do you have a favorite place where you like to read?

Hi Ima Virginia, I just noticed that you have an "I love teddy bears" sign on your sidebar. Maybe you could do a post about your teddy bears. Do you have Muffy Van der Bear???
